Sidebar Gadgets for Channel 9, Channel 8 and more
Friday, April 04, 2008We recently had Donovan West (LiveGadgets.net) build us a set of sidebar gadgets for Windows Vista. These gadgets use the RSS feeds from each site and let you see all of our new content as it gets posted, then (using Silverlight) you can even play our videos right there on your desktop. You can check out the gadgets (for Channel 9, Mix, C8, Edge, and on10.net) by clicking on the appropriate image below: [read more...]Filed under | 0 comments »Share this -
Ice Cube talking about Silverlight...
Wednesday, November 21, 2007and the Group Manager of Platform Evangelism at Adobe feels the need to comment about it. Let me summarize. Ice Cube is involved in an Internet video project and has chosen to use Silverlight, and you can watch an interview with him about it in Silverlight. (on a side note, I decided not to include the video into my post, even though the instructions to do so are right there in the original blog entry, because it is set to auto-start when someone visits the page and I think that is just downright rude :) ) The post is interesting, [read more...]Share this -
Anyone have contacts with TVTonic?
Sunday, November 18, 2007One of their users emailed us to comment on our video quality... essentially pointing out that it sucked when viewed through their TV using TV Tonic. Well I was puzzled because, while we don't ship out DVD quality video, our high quality download is quite good for a podcast. Turns out though, after installing TV Tonic and picking on10.net out of their catalog, that the feed they have in their system is our 512kbps WMV feed... which is certainly not the best quality around, around 430kbps for video and 320x240... fine for display on our site, but not the hottest [read more...]Filed under | 0 comments »Share this -
Sampy explains how we built the Silverlight player for Channel 8
Wednesday, September 26, 2007In an interview with Adam Kinney on Channel 9 today, Sampy goes over how the player works and why using the JavaScript and templates from Expression Media Encoder saved us a bunch of hassle See this video on Channel 9! Added Silverlight Streaming support to Channel 9's forums
Monday, September 03, 2007Continuing on in the same pattern as my last post, adding Soapbox support to C9's forums, Adam Kinney bugged me a bit and I went ahead and added support for Silverlight Streaming as well. It will be interesting to see if (or more accurately, how long before) someone turns this to malicious purposes. [read more...]Filed under | 0 comments »Share this -
Have you tried Amazon Unbox?
Wednesday, March 21, 2007I was interested, and I guess I still am, but I'm not sure yet... For one, they seem to be WMV files... protected with our standard DRM, but yet they don't use Windows Media Player to play them back? I'm not sure why this is, but if they supported playback in a normal video player then I'm pretty sure these videos would work through Media Center (and therefore my Xbox 360) without any hassle. As is, I think I'd be limited to watching them on my computer screen (which holds absolutely no interest to me) or perhaps on my iRiver [read more...]Filed under | 0 comments »Share this -
Capturing 360 video with AV input to a DV camera
Wednesday, March 07, 2007I captured some footage of Viva Piñata to test the quality of capturing the analog video out from the 360 into a miniDV camera... worked out pretty good I think. Video: Testing video capture from 360 [read more...]Filed under | 0 comments »Share this -
Get great video for your Zune, courtesy of Sony
Wednesday, February 07, 2007I stumbled upon the PSP Connect site a few weeks ago, and I've been really enjoying it as a source of video for my Zune. This site, since it is aimed at the PSP, has a ton of great 320x240 MP4 content, including a lot of popular viral videos, movie trailers (of all the upcoming Sony movies for sure) and even ongoing series such as the 'Spartan' and 'Borg' series of machinima. Lots of this content is available elsewhere, but on this site you can download good quality versions without having to hack out some flash video (like YouTube or [read more...]Filed under | 0 comments »Share this -
Hidden Feature on Channel 10, tag based dynamic playlists
Friday, January 19, 2007While working on a certificate issue for the 'next' iteration of on10.net, I decided to code up a new feature that has been sitting on our feature list for quite some time. ASX files are very simple files that let you list out a series of media files and Windows Media Player will happily play them in sequence, so I wrote some code so that a URL like this: http://www.on10.net/tags/E3/asx/ Will output an ASX file containing recent videos tagged with 'E3'. Woo hoo, exciting... well, maybe not that exciting, but it does mean that you can pick a topic you [read more...]Filed under | 0 comments »Share this -
